Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy:

Below are questions that commonly appear in my inbox or show up in early sessions. If you don’t see your question, reach out. I’m happy to help!

  • I’m glad you asked! I offer a creative and energizing approach that makes it feel less clinical than some other therapeutic experiences you may’ve had. I believe therapy is a deeply personal and delicate human experience—and that it can and should unlock your aliveness and joy.

With a soul-led, nervous system-aligned, and brain-wise gaze, I aim to not only be a safe space for you to be fully heard and witnessed but to equip you with a wealth of empowering tools and invitations that allow you to move through the world with different eyes.

My passions and strengths lie in teaching clients how to become their most reliable sources of confidence, courage, clarity, and wisdom. This is a sacred experience that guides you back home to the wholeness you never lost, but that the burned-out, disheartened, or traumatized parts of you believed they had to keep hidden from view.

So, whether you're heartbroken over the loss of a love story you believed would last forever, are a new mom wondering, "Now that my baby is here, who am I?" or still healing from a childhood that crushed your self-worth and stole your peace, I can help you. And I'd be delighted to.

  • This is such an important question. In my eyes, therapy is about more than symptom relief; it's about the reclamation of what’s most true, timeless, and powerful about you.

My soul-led approach to therapy isn’t necessarily about a particular religion, though it can be if that’s what matters to you. Mostly, it means that, while everything I do is rooted in evidence-based, science-supported research and ethical practices, I'm always listening for a connection to the essential part of you that has never been harmed by the worst of things you’ve endured. There’s a powerful essence built into you that lives behind every part of you that feels broken, confused, or “stuck,” and my job is to help you bring it back into view.

So, whether you're a life-long people-pleaser who’s tired of doing emotional acrobatics to keep everyone happy, a sleep-deprived mom burned out from refilling juice cups all day long, or a middle-aged couple coming my way after feeling like you've become two ships passing in the night–barely able to sense the passion and friendship you once shared–I’ll dig for the whispers of hope, guidance, and purpose behind the conflicts, patterns, and confusions you're holding.

Please know: All forms of faith, hope, and spiritual oxygen are welcome here. I'm always going to care about what you care about. Power Haven Therapy is about building the kind of inner strength and peace that withstands whatever life might throw your way.

It’s where clinical precision meets soulful reclamation–so you can heal not just on the surface, but at the source.

  • I am out of network provider for all insurances at this time. There are meaningful reasons for this–many of which have your best interests in mind.

Here’s the short of it: For your insurance company to pay for your sessions, you must receive a formal mental health diagnosis. Unfortunately, insurance companies are often unconcerned about clients grieving the loss of a dream, a job, or a relationship, or maintaining satisfying relationships in the throes of a major life change. Since insurance companies focus on medical consequences, they require a label that permanently diagnoses clients, often unnecessarily and sometimes inaccurately. This occasionally leads to over-diagnosing and might lock clients into therapy longer than they should be.

By paying in full as needed, you maintain complete control and confidentiality of your sessions. Having said that, please know I am happy to provide you with a "Superbill" which you may submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.

    • Individual, 55-minute sessions range between $115-$155, depending upon lifestyle factors and sliding scale availability.

    • Couples, 55-minute sessions are $175. To learn more about couples therapy, go here.

    • Brainspotting, The standard rates for 55-minute sessions are $165, and 90-minute intensives are $245. However, there are occasionally sliding scale slots available upon request. To learn more about Brainspotting, go here.

    • Private, in-home therapy is available upon request and varies in price. Whether navigating a disability, lifestyle demands, or a high-profile situation that calls for extra privacy, I can help. If you feel this may best meet your needs, go here to access my HIPAA-compliant contact platform.

  • Clients always discern when therapy starts and stops, and will never be persuaded otherwise.

As for timing, while each client is a unique system of challenges, dreams, and availability, significant progress is often seen within 6-8 sessions, though some clients are satisfied within 2-3 sessions. Of course, many experience therapy as a gift they give to themselves indefinitely, which might look like slowing down their frequency to monthly or quarterly once their main goals are met.

My job is to meet you where you are, wherever that is, while equipping you with a wealth of tools that long outlive our sessions together.

  • Therapy is often much less intimidating and far more light and enjoyable than some might assume.

During our first session, I’ll explore your concerns, expectations, and goals for therapy, and cover any questions you may have. Next, I’ll gently begin to unearth the story of you—meeting your history of influences, challenges, dreams, and experiences with curiosity. I might learn about your family, relationships, and culture, including patterns and traumas you’ve endured to the ways in which you find joy, meaning, and strength.

Regardless of how it unfolds, it’ll be fully in service to your healing and life goals. This is to say, I’ll never ask you to travel to a place you’re not yet ready to go.

Finally, I’ll make sure you don’t walk out of my door without leaving with a supportive tool to begin folding into your life immediately.

As your therapist, I don’t take your trust in me lightly, and I want you to feel and experience results as quickly as possible!
