FAQ:

Why Power Haven? What Makes It Special?
Power Haven Therapy offers an artful and energizing approach that makes it unique from other therapeutic experiences. With a soul-led, body-aligned, and brain-wise gaze, I aim to not only be a safe space for you to be fully heard, seen, and held, but to equip you with a wealth of empowering tools and life-changing invitations that allow you to move through the world differently.
I'll teach you how to become your most reliable source of confidence, courage, clarity, wisdom, and beyond. This is not about fixing you, per se, but about the sweet release of long-held burdens while remembering the origin of your wholeness. It's a sacred experience that guides you back home to yourself, reauthors your self-concept and space within the world, and allows you to vividly see that you're the one you've been waiting for. In doing so, one's relationships of every kind dramatically improve.
While I'm trained to treat a variety of ages, populations, and ailments, including couples and families, I specialize in the emotional, mental, and relational aspects of women's health, vitality, and empowerment. This includes, but is not limited to, issues related to postpartum, motherhood and co-parenting, relationship trauma, chronic illness, codependence, self-discovery and personal fulfillment, and beyond. Whether you're heartbroken over the loss of a precious relationship you swore would last forever, a new mom wondering, "Now that my baby is here, who am I?" or panged with sudden health challenges after years of disappearing behind the needs and demands of others, I can help. And I'd be delighted to.
What do you Mean by "Soul-Led" Therapy?
At Power Haven Therapy, healing is about more than symptom relief; it's about reclamation of what is most true about you. Soul-led therapy simply means that, while everything I do is rooted in evidence-based, science-supported research and practices, I'm always listening for what stirs beneath the surface so that I can hear the language of your soul and the wise whispers behind your wounds.
Whether you're a new mom appearing at my doorway burned out from refilling juice cups and changing diapers all day long, while worrying that your creative ambitions have become an old, abandoned house in the wake of so much exhausting responsibility, or you're a middle-aged couple coming my way after feeling like you've become two ships passing in the night–barely able to sense the passion, laughter, and friendship you once shared–I will dig for the dreams and aches behind the conflicts, patterns, and complaints you're holding. It means that, whether you find truth in God, nature, or something you choose not to define, all forms of faith, hope, and spiritual oxygen are welcome to announce themselves here. I'm always going to meet you where you are. In essence, this is where clinical precision meets soulful reclamation–so you can heal not just at the surface, but at the source.
Do You Accept Insurance? What About reduced rates?
While rates will always be discussed before your first session, every client has the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" to help them estimate expected charges for the services provided. This estimate is available upon request from me at any time during our work together.

No, I don't accept insurance at this time. There are meaningful reasons for this–many of which have your best interests in mind.
For your insurance company to pay for your therapy sessions, you must receive a formal mental health diagnosis. Unfortunately, insurance companies are often unconcerned about clients grieving the loss of a dream, a job, or a relationship, or maintaining marital satisfaction and friendship in the throes of a major life change. Since insurance companies focus on medical consequences, they require a label that permanently diagnoses individuals, often unnecessarily and sometimes inaccurately. This occasionally leads to over-diagnosing clients and might lock them into therapy longer than they should be.
Power Haven Therapy is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards, allowing you to keep your medical records private from insurance companies and therefore any employers or future benefit managers that have an interest in your mental health history, should you wish to. By paying in full as needed, you maintain complete control and confidentiality of your sessions. However, I am happy to provide you with a "Superbill" which you may submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.
While I do offer a sliding scale, those spots are limited and often require a waiting list.
Please be assured that I will always strive to ensure you do not pay for sessions longer than you desire or need them. I see my role as one of honest and focused collaboration and guidance–one that aims to witness your aliveness unfold as quickly as possible. This is to say, in the majority of cases, the goal is not for clients to rely on therapy sessions forevermore but to, instead, get back out into the world, acting as their own means of clarity, safety, and authority.
How Long Should I expect to be in therapy?
As the client, it's your right to discontinue therapy at any time. As for timing, every client is unique, with distinct contexts, goals, struggles, and availability. While significant progress is often expected within 6-8 sessions, some clients are satisfied with their progress within 2-3 sessions. Other clients experience therapy as an ongoing gift they give to themselves–often slowing down their frequency once their primary goals are met, but maintaining a flexible presence within their journey of transformation indefinitely. This might look like a check-in once every month or two, but again, every client desires something different. My job is to meet you where you are.
Power Haven Therapy is committed to providing tools and preparation to equip and empower you well beyond our sessions together. It is not in your best interest to keep you longer than you need support, nor is it an ethical practice for therapy to extend beyond your goals and needs. I aim to empower you as an individual, couple, or family–helping you learn how to meet your emotional and relational goals, and equipping you to be your primary source of autonomy, safety, and well-being long after sessions have ended.
What About Privacy? Are Sessions Confidential?
Power Haven Therapy considers confidentiality an essential component of the therapeutic relationship. Your personal feelings, emotions, traumas, relationships, and histories are your privilege to share and completely yours to entrust within the confines of private sessions. Your safety, in every aspect, matters to me. To hold your stories is an honor I don't take lightly.
If you are meeting in the Brentwood office, please be assured that utmost effort is being made to ensure the room is secure and soundproof. If sessions are held via Telethealth, please ensure that you are in control of the environment around you. The laws that protect the confidentiality of client information also apply to Telehealth, with the understanding that the client controls their privacy regarding their location.

If, in the future, you decide you want Power Haven Therapy to disclose information or give an update on your behalf (such as to your primary care physician, psychiatrist, OB-GYN, etc.), you will need to sign a waiver, as by law Power Haven Therapy cannot release any of your information without your written consent.

There are four exceptions to the limitations of confidentiality, per Tennessee state law, as well as professional ethics and guidelines:

• If the therapist believes the client is at risk of hurting himself/herself or another person, the therapist may breach confidentiality to protect the client or parties from potential harm.
• If the therapist suspects child, elder, or vulnerable adult abuse in any form, Tennessee state law requires the therapist to report any relevant information to the proper authorities or the police in case of emergency.
• If the therapist is subpoenaed for court, the therapist may be required to disclose information relevant to the situation, which may contain confidential information. However, every effort will be made to uphold and protect the rights of the client, and the client will be notified of the subpoena before disclosure.
• Lacey Johnson, as a pre-licensed therapist operating under the license of a qualified and approved Supervisor, requires clinical supervision hours by Tennessee state law. Confidentiality is therefore extended to the Supervisor only, allowing for consultation and may (but very rarely) require breach of private information if (and only if) in the best interest of the client.
I promise that every effort will be made to protect your anonymity and privacy with care, and confidential information will rarely, if ever, be necessary for this purpose.
What's Your Cancellation Policy?
When you become a new client, you're provided with a complete agreement of policies and procedures before the first session, which includes details about rescheduling and cancellations. Power Haven Therapy requires a 24-hour notice for all cancellations/reschedules before the scheduled session. This is because the hour is exclusively and honorably held for you. Failure to communicate a desire to cancel before 24 hours will result in a charge of 50% of the scheduled session cost. Failure to either communicate before three hours or show for your session will result in a charge for the full session fee.
Having said this, Power Haven Therapy understands that you're a human being. Illnesses, mishaps, accidents, childcare shifts, weather concerns, and beyond can be wildly unpredictable. I care about your sanity and safety! This is to say, sometimes a 24-hour notice is not possible for you. Grace and compassion are always extended to clients with extenuating circumstances, and expected in reciprocity for the therapist as well. Of course, no charge will ever be made without informing the client beforehand.
